Have you updated the software (Software update for Bluetooth and USB audio interface)? When I put VIN number on the page I got the following options:
UPD01005 (Latest Version, 8.06 MB)
Update for vehicles with production date from March 2012 to present
UPD01004 (6.6 MB)
Update for vehicles with production date from March 2012 to present
UPD01000 (26 kb)
Update for vehicles with production date from March 2010 to August 2010
My BMW was produced in April 2011. I do not see option for me. However, the first and second option is for the same production period...?

This was the first thing I checked when I had the software update, and I have confirmed it does work. However this feature will not be added to European i3s. That is because the majority of public. BMW adds 142,000 miles of new roads to its maps every year, so updating your maps means your navigation system is going to work a lot better. But BMW is also working hard to improve its map data. Earlier versions can include mistakes (even Google Maps has a few streets that exist in principle, but in reality are just empty fields), and each subsequent map version is going to iron out more of these issues.
I got my brand new (to me) 2012 328i with navigation, premium sound system, HDD, and bluetooth. I love the car, it's absolutely lovely. However, there's no bluetooth audio for some reason. I can make & receive calls via bluetooth but not play music or podcasts or anything. I totally did not see that coming. Is there an easy way to add support for this? I would prefer getting that working on the car as opposed to buying an external bluetooth/aux adapter. Would a software update work?
This is a big issue for me as I love listening to podcasts and music and such while driving but I'd prefer not to deal with the cables.

Can this be done? I'm willing to pay if the cost is reasonable. I'd appreciate any help!

Edit (Nov 4 2017): A few people have asked me about this. I was able to code the car myself after buying a special cable and downloading the software. Didn't cost a penny and is a scary endeavour for sure. I was comfortable with it since I'm a computer engineer, but if you've never messed with that stuff before be cautious.
I learned about it from this post: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?p=16666842#post16666842
It references this post: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showpost.php?p=15150365&postcount=9

You'll need a cable to do the coding. It's ethernet on one end and OBD II on the other end. It's called ENET cable or ESYS cable or something like that. I bought mine off of ebay but here's a link to it on Amazon.
You'll also need the software which you can find online. I just found a torrent for it somewhere.
